Google’s Project Glass my Finished Product in 2014

Google Project Glass

There’s no denying that Google’s Project Glass could change the way we explore and share our world with others, as the device is poised as a platform for next generation wearable computing. The larger question then becomes when will the product be ready for production? Up until now we’ve had a broad outline of Google’s plan with the project, but thanks to a recent interview with Google’s Barbak Parviz by IEEE Spectrum, we now have a few additional details to share.

In the interview Pavik explains how the project has evolved since its inception by saying, “We constantly try out new ideas of how this platform can be used. There’s a lot of experimentation going on at all times in Google.” Pavik continued with a confirmation that augmented reality is not something that Google is exploring for at least the first iteration of the device.

According to Pavik, any developer who invested $1500 for the developer edition of Google Glass during Google I/O 2012, should receive a device closely resembling the final product sometime this year. He strongly believes that the developer community will find ways to push the product in ways Google has yet to even imagine.

Google is still hopes to release the final product to consumers sometime in 2014.
